Engineering Services provides consulting to support the mission of the Office of Physical Plant, as well as the academic, research and administrative functions of the University. Engineering Services provides technical support to the University's infrastructure projects from planning and design to construction and operations and maintenance, and is responsible for maintaining and updating the University's Design and Construction Standards.
Energy Engineering - Manage and support the University's energy program consisting of energy conservation, energy procurement, energy usage monitoring and benchmarking, and performance contracting.
Continuous Commissioning - Troubleshoot and resolve issues with building systems and operational performance to make existing University buildings function optimally for both occupant comfort and energy efficiency.
Facility Mechanical Engineering - Assist with the design of building mechanical systems to maximize performance, energy efficiency, and long-term reliability. Work with OPP's Buildings and Grounds staff to identify and resolve mechanical issues across all Penn State facilities.
Environmental Compliance - Track, monitor and ensure the University's compliance with local, state and federal environmental regulations. Collect and report data to environmental agencies, and investigate and resolve environmental issues.
Mapping – Create and maintain mapping and documentation of all of the University's utilities infrastructure. Provide utilities, landscaping and other OPP teams with GIS mapping support.
Utility Systems - Lead the efforts for the planning and design of Penn State's utilities infrastructure. Assist the utilities operators to make systems more effective and efficient. Develop and update master plans for future utilities requirements and load growth.
Electrical Engineering - Assist with the design of building electrical systems to maximize performance, energy efficiency and long-term reliability. Work with OPP's Buildings and Grounds staff to identify and resolve electrical and lighting issues across all Penn State facilities.
