PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Alexander Building Construction Co. requests proposals for the UP-FY 18-23 Capital Systems Renewal Program - Electrical Construction 2A for The Pennsylvania State University. The scope of work consists of switchgear and electrical upgrades at Grange, Eisenhower Chapel, Pattee West, and Beef and Sheep buildings at PSU's University Park Campus. The estimated construction start is Summer 2025 based on anticipated material lead times.
Pattee West: Replace existing Electrical Switchgear and Electrical Service Entrance at Pattee Library West; includes Normal and Emergency Standby services, medium voltage feeder, Main Disconnect, Transformers, and Distribution Equipment at Penthouse Electrical Room and select Utilization Panelboards within the facility.
Eisenhower Chapel: Replace Low Voltage Emergency Distribution; includes an automatic transfer switch, utilization panelboards, and a low-voltage transformer.
Grange Building: Replace the existing Electrical Switchboard, including low voltage main distribution, medium Voltage Emergency Standby disconnect, transformer, and automatic transfer switch.
Beef and Sheep Barn: Replace all electrical distribution equipment, including low voltage switchboard, distribution, utilization panelboards, panel feeders, and Emergency Standby Generator with Automatic Transfer Switches. There is no medium voltage work associated with this building.
BID PACKAGE DESCRIPTION
In addition to the Electrical Work described above, certain buildings will require abatement, excavation, demolition, masonry, door frames, doors, hardware, and concrete. The Electrical Contractor will need to include these components in their proposal.
PRE-BID NOTES
The Electrical Contractor should solicit PSU Prequalified Abatement Contractors. They are encouraged to attend the 9 a.m. session to review the abatement scope at Beef and Sheep. After Beef and Sheep pre-bid site walk, we will head over to Pattee West, followed by Grange and Eisenhower Chapel. Each building will take roughly an hour to review.
PREQUALIFICATION
The prequalification period is over for Electrical BP2A. There are additional prequalification requirements for contractors who wish to perform abatement and Medium/High Voltage work. See project manual for more information.
BIDDING
The project will be bid through SmartBid.
As a project delegated to Penn State by the Pennsylvania Department of General Services (DGS), this bid opening is public via Zoom Webinar. Registration is required. Organizers will Admit registrants to the bid opening at 3:00 p.m.
