For 24 years the Office of Physical Plant has welcomed the children of its employees to spend a morning learning the ins and outs of OPP. This year was no different as more than 40 children participated in the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day event on April 27.

The morning started off with a breakfast; a warm welcome from Terri Parker, director of Administrative and Financial Services; and a “Safety Minute” from George Benko of the OPP Safety Office. The event was open to kids in grades 1-12.

Parents and children preregistered for up to two activities. Activities included an OPP Shops tour, a Beaver Stadium tour and a flower planting. Children in grades 9-12 could also choose the OPP Career Path option and spend the morning shadowing an employee working in their field of interest.

A special thanks goes out to all those who volunteered their time to make the day a success, including Terri Parker, Bruce Smith, Phumara Cox, George Benko, Ron Nagle, Terry Hansel, Brooks Meyers, John Lyons, Chris Matish, Tom Flynn, Nadine Davitt, Dave Demko, Jeff Dice, Matt Wolf, Kathryn Hallin and Theresa Barger. The planning committee also thanks Ford Stryker and Steve Maruszewski for their support of the event. In addition, a thank you goes out to those working in the OPP Shops and Penn State Athletics.
